Dodo Birds

http://www.bagheera.com/inthewild/ext_dodobird.htm

As many of you know, dodo birds have been extinct for several hundred years. As the dodo bird evolved, it lost its ability to fly. The dodo lost its ability to fly because there was an abundance of food and the dodo didn't have any predators. As sailors stopped at the island of Mauritius, which was the home of the dodo bird, they killed them for food, eventually killing off the whole species. When Dodos lost the ability to fly, through evolution, caused the species to become extinct.
